Should a person seeking help contact Give a Little directly?
We work behind the scenes as a second-tier, or back-up, foundation. Given our back-up role, we cannot take applications directly from clients.
We partner with a wide range of local frontline groups (such as social service, religious, and government organizations as well as other nonprofits) that identify clients with genuine pressing needs.
Please see Help someone in trouble on our website for further information on how individuals can find an appropriate front line organization to begin the process of applying for assistance.

How can Give a Little be sure the money is used as intended?
We always pay the service providers directly rather than the individuals themselves.

Can one-time funding really help with serious problems?
In many cases, yes. The money buys time for recipients to find new employment, recover from an illness, apply for housing or food vouchers, or find other solutions.
We find that people are often creative in helping themselves if given the chance.
